According to Ukrainian military sources, Russian anti-aircraft gunners accidentally downed the attack aircraft. Meanwhile, Russian military bloggers claim it was an accident.
Ukrainian border guards operating near Donetsk Oblast's Avdiivka have reportedly shot down a Russian combat aircraft, a Su-25 attack jet as per initial reports, using a MANPAD system.
Russian troops at Avdiivka are undergoing regrouping after suffering significant losses, including the downing of another Su-25 fighter jet, as stated by Ukrainian defense spokesperson.
On 16 October, General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, commander of Ukraine's Tavria operational-strategic group, reported the third downing of a Russian Su-25 fighter jet in the last week.
