Ireland has joined several European nations expressing openness to sending peacekeepers to Ukraine, Taoiseach Micheál Martin revealed after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at Shannon Airport.
While en route to the US, Ukraine's President Zelenskyy met with Irish PM Micheál Martin to discuss peace efforts and defense aid, Martin pledged Giraffe radar systems for Ukraine.
Ireland will allocate 3 million euros for building bomb shelters near Ukrainian schools, while Italy's Scandurra Studio Architettura will prepare technical plans to restore destroyed educational facilities.
The agreement underscores Ireland's ongoing commitment to Ukraine, with plans to provide additional non-lethal military aid and humanitarian assistance, as well as to participate in international coalitions focused on demining and other defense initiatives.
