Svitlana Samoilenko, the deputy Russian-installed mayor of Berdiansk, died from injuries sustained in a car explosion in the Russian-controlled city in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia Oblast on Wednesday morning. Ukrainian intelligence confirmed her death. https://twitter.com/i/status/1765510311715443045
"On March 6, 2024, collaborator Svitlana Volodymyrivna Samoilenko, who organized the sham Putin elections in the occupied territories of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast, was eliminated in temporarily occupied Berdiansk," reported the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
After the occupation of Berdiansk in 2022, Samoilenko secured a position in the Russian occupation administration as the "deputy mayor for economic affairs, agriculture, and finance." She was also a member of the local election commission with the right to a decisive vote.
Samoilenko intimidated city residents, forcing them to participate in the illegal voting for the upcoming Russian presidential elections scheduled for March 15-17 in the Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine. Read more:
