Ukrainska Pravda: SBU behind explosion on Russia’s strategic railway leading to China

According to a source within the security structures speaking to Ukrainska Pravda media outlet, the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) was behind a successful operation that led to an explosion on the Baikal-Amur Mainline in Russia’s far eastern republic of Buryatia on the night of 30 November. This railway is reportedly the only significant rail link between Russia and China.

The source emphasized that this railway, which Russia also uses for military supplies, is now paralyzed. During the movement of a freight train, four explosive devices were detonated, as reported by sources.

“This is effectively the only serious railway connection between Russia and China. And now this path, which Russia uses including for military supplies, is paralyzed,” another official source told RBC-Ukraine.

Russian propaganda outlets displayed images from the Severomuysky Tunnel, which was reportedly targeted by the SBU. The photos show the tunnel’s entrance and interior view.

Propagandists claimed that the “fire” on the freight train was caused by an “electrical network short circuit.”

“Now the FSB is working on the spot, and railway workers are unsuccessfully trying to minimize the consequences of the SBU’s special operation,” Ukrainska Pravda wrote citing the source.
