Ukraine’s state defense conglomerate Ukroboronprom denied on 29 November earlier reports that Ukrainian defense enterprises had supplied spare parts for aircraft and helicopters to Russian companies.
“Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukroboronprom enterprises have not exported the products mentioned in the report at all,” Ukroboronprom said in a statement, referring to a report by Latvia-based Russian news outlet Important Stories.
On 27 November, Important Stories reported that the Russian company Avia FED Service supplied the Russian aviation industry with spare parts from Ukraine worth over $4 million in 2022-2023
The outlet claimed that the Russian Avia FED Service spare part manufacturer imported aircraft and helicopter parts made by Kharkiv’s “FED” Machine-Building Plant from Ukraine via UAE and Kyrgyzstan intermediaries from January 2022 to July 2023.
Ukroboronprom refuted the report, stating that none of the Ukrainian companies mentioned in the investigation have collaborated with Avia FED Service since 2014. Additionally, they confirmed that these companies have never entered into contracts with either LINKER or Bakaitorg1.
Ukroboronprom also emphasized the importance of media outlets conducting diligent fact-checking, particularly in light of the ongoing full-scale invasion. They highlighted the prevalence of disinformation spread by Russian propaganda about Ukraine’s defense industry activities, underscoring the need for careful verification of reports.
