A Russian convict who murdered four people in Russia was pardoned by Russian President Vladimir Putin and released 11 years ahead of schedule due to his participation in the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russian media reported.
Denis Gorin, a resident of the Sakhalin region (Russia’s Far East), convicted of homicide and cannibalism, was released after serving only half of his 22-year sentence in prison. According to the Russian media, Denis Gorin is currently in a hospital in Russia’s Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, where he is being treated after sustaining a moderate injury during the combat in Ukraine.
Last month, Gorin posted a photo of himself in a Russian military uniform with a Z-symbol on his sleeve on Odnoklassniki, a Russian social media. Gorin’s page on Odnoklassniki was active, with breaks between his sentences.
From September 2017, when the case of murder and cannibalism was brought to court, until October 2023, there were no publications on his Odnoklassniki page.

44-year-old Denis Gorin, a resident of Aniva, Sakhalin region of Russia, killed at least four people. He was charged with homicide for the first time in 2003. The court sentenced Gorin to ten years in a special-regime prison for “murder and abuse of the body,” but he was released in 2010 three years ahead of schedule “for exemplary behavior.”
In 2010, Gorin stabbed to death a man with whom he was in a pre-trial detention center. After the murder, Gorin cut the meat from the victim’s arms and legs and later ate it.
In 2011 and 2012, Gorin and his brother killed two more people. In 2018, the court sentenced Denis Gorin to 22 years in a special-regime prison. In 2023, Denis Gorin was recruited in jail by the Russian Armed Forces and deployed to Ukraine, where he was wounded.
Earlier, Russian media reported that Russia’s President Vladimir Putin had pardoned a 33-year-old Satanic cannibal, Nikolai Ogolobiak, who had killed several teenagers. The convict was supposed to serve 20 years but was recruited in jail to fight in the war against Ukraine in Storm Z assault units of the Russian Armed Forces. He spent six months on the front line, where he was injured and disabled.
