Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) struck the "AKM" chemical complex of Metafrax Chemicals in the town of Gubakha in Russia's Perm Krai. It lies 1,700 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says.
The Metafrax Chemicals plant is "an important part of the Russian chemical industry", he adds, whose products supply dozens of Russian military production facilities, including aviation, drones, rocket engines, and explosives.
"Now the production process at the plant is halted. Our long-range sanction is important," Zelenskyy states.
Explosions rock Perm facility, as drones trigger large-scale fire
The OSINT channel Exilenova+ also writes that a UAV struck the territory of the AKM complex. Local witnesses described between four and six explosions on the plant's premises, followed by a large-scale fire, with damage and rising smoke visible in footage.
Perm Krai Governor Dmitry Makhonin confirmed an "enemy UAV strike" on the industrial enterprise, saying Russian air defense forces and mobile units had allegedly shot down several drones on approach, LB.ua reports.
Russian regional authorities, per established pattern after Ukrainian deep strikes, said there were no casualties. The region imposed temporary "drone danger" and "carpet" airspace regimes that restrict civilian air operations and trigger enhanced security measures.
Multiple oil refineries and pumping stations hit this month
The 1,700-kilometer figure Zelenskyy gave places the Metafrax strike among the deepest documented Ukrainian operations against Russian military-industrial targets.
The strike extends a campaign in which Ukrainian forces struck the Rosneft Syzran refinery 800 kilometers from the border on the night of 20-21 May, also attributed by Zelenskyy to SBU's Center for Special Operations "A".
Commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces, Major Robert "Madiar" Brovdi, documented strikes on 11 Russian oil refineries and seven pumping stations this month alone.
