In the early hours of October 12, Russian forces launched an attack on Zaporizhzhia, southeastern Ukraine, reportedly using guided aerial bombs. The assault resulted in injuries to civilians, including a child.
Russia has been conducting daily air strikes on civilian areas in Ukraine as part of its broader strategy to terrorize the population and damage critical civilian infrastructure, such as power plants, residential buildings, and hospitals. These attacks involve the use of long-range drones, like the Iranian-made Shahed “kamikaze” drones, as well as missiles.
Between 2:20 and 2:31 a.m., the Russian forces carried out three air strikes on Zaporizhzhia, using KABs (guided aerial bombs), according to the National Police.
Head of the Regional Military Administration Ivan Fedorov stated that three people were injured – two women aged 55 and 22, and an 11-year-old girl. The adults reportedly declined hospitalization, while the child received medical attention and was able to return home.
The National Police reported that three strikes targeted different areas of the city: an infrastructure facility, a residential sector, and a horse riding club.
The attack on Zaporizhzhia was part of a larger offensive in the oblast. Over the course of 24 hours, Russian forces conducted 425 strikes on 11 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. Air attacks reportedly hit several towns, including Zaporizhzhia, Tavriiske, Yurkivka, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, and Robotyne.
