The coalition of Russian battalions – the Freedom of Russia Legion, the Russian Volunteer Corps, and the Siberian Battalion made a joint statement in which they announced strikes on the positions of the Russian army in Belgorod and Kursk, Russian cities bordering Ukraine.

The battalions reported on 12 March that they had entered the border territory of Russia to liberate the “criminal dictatorial regime in the Russian Federation.”

“Putin’s killers are carrying out massive attacks on peaceful Ukrainian cities, positioning their forces between your homes and your children’s schools and government institutions. Every day, dozens of ordinary innocent people are killed by shelling from Belgorod. The shelling of Ukraine from the territory of Belgorod must stop,” they said in the joint statement.

The fighters said they were “forced to strike at military positions located in the cities of Belgorod and Kursk.”

They also urged everyone to leave the cities: “We call on the local authorities to save human lives and start evacuating the cities of Kursk and Belgorod oblasts.”

Units of the Freedom of Russia Legion, the Russian Volunteer Corps, and the Siberian Battalion entered on 12 March the territory of the Grayvoronsky district of the Belgorod Oblast, as well as the territory of the Kursk Oblast.

The Freedom of Russia Legion reported later on 12 March that the village of Tyotkino in the Kursk Oblast was under the full control of the legion and indicated that units of the Russian army were “rapidly leaving the village and their positions.”
