Crimea to become hub for high-tech companies after liberation, Zelenskyy says

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy wants to create a Ukrainian Silicon Valley in Crimea (southern Ukraine, currently occupied by Russia), the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, said in an interview with Vector.

Zelenskyy has an idea to build something similar to American Silicon Valley, a region in California that serves as a global center for high technology and innovation. The Crimean counterpart of the Valley will have a super-tech university, and will host companies that can work there all year round, Fedorov said, adding that he "would like the entire country to become a Silicon Valley."

"Clusters like it will appear if we formulate our policy correctly. But we need to win first, solve security issues, and develop infrastructure," Fedorov noted.

Silicon Valley is home to the headquarters of technology giants like Google, Apple, Adobe, Facebook, Intel, Nvidia, Oracle, and Xerox.
