Russian troops damage 664 cultural heritage sites in Ukraine since beginning of war

More than 664 cultural heritage sites have been damaged or destroyed since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, according to the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.

However, the exact number of destroyed objects is currently unknown as the ministry has limited access to combat areas and occupied territories.

“We will be able to see the full picture after the war ends and when most combat zones are cleared from mines and become accessible for investigators,” Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Katerina Chuieva explains.
