At the Maidan assembly in Kyiv, Sunday, March 23, the new head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Valentyn Nalyvaychenko, encouraged Maidan activists to come work for the Security Service of Ukraine and the Interior Ministry of Ukraine in order to renew both organizations with new, patriotic people.
“I strongly support those who are joining the security services and the government. We need exactly the kinds of people in key positions who fought against the criminal regime,” Nalyvaychenko told the crowd on Independence Square. “The time has come for you to be positions of authority and to control the powers of authority,” he said.
According to Nalyvaychenko, new, young, decisive, patriotic people should be working in law enforcement agencies.
Additionally, Nalyvaychenko reported that during the past three weeks, the Security Service of Ukraine detained nine separatist leaders. He encouraged all citizens of Ukraine to help identity the separatists and saboteurs and to report them to the security services.
“We’re not afraid of separatists, crooks or occupiers. The time has come to dismiss them and to expel all of them from Ukraine. I appeal to you, help our law enforcement to free our cities of the saboteurs who undermine Ukrainians and who incite separatism,” he concluded.
