As reported by European Pravda and announced by Volodymyr Zelenskyy on his Telegram-channel, the Netherlands will allocate an additional billion euros for military aid to Ukraine. In addition, the Netherlands will also provide 400 million euros for reconstruction.
The President of Ukraine spoke about this matter with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte. Zelenskyy noted that the funds were allocated in addition to the obligations under the bilateral security agreement.
Zelenskyy thanked the Dutch PM and the Dutch people in general for their support, noting that is serves as an example.
“In a telephone conversation, Prime Minister Mark Rutte has just announced that the Netherlands has allocated another billion euros for military aid to Ukraine and 400 million for reconstruction… Thank you, Mark, thank you, Dutch people! This is an exemplary example of support for Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said.
The conversation focused on joint work with partners to speed up the supply of shells for artillery, ammunition and air defense systems, the President added.
Furthermore, Zelenskyy told Rutte about the preparations for the Peace Summit in Switzerland and invited the Netherlands to join. They also discussed the necessary efforts to ensure that this event is supported by as many countries as possible.
Rutte, for his part, noted that €1 billion would be allocated for military support in addition to the €2 billion already agreed upon. It was also decided, according to Rutte, that the Netherlands would allocate 3 billion euros for military support for the next year.
“We will continue to do everything possible to deliver more ammunition and anti-aircraft weapons faster together with our international partners. Here we are working closely with Denmark and the Czech Republic, among others. Ukraine must win this battle. For its own and our security,” Rutte wrote on X (previously Twitter).
As of the end of February, the Netherlands has spent a total of more than 2.8 billion euros in aid to Ukraine.
For 2024, the Dutch government has earmarked €2 billion in military support for Ukraine, €295 million as a contribution to the European Peace Fund, €89 million for justice, and €3 million for non-military cyber support.
The same amount of military assistance was enshrined in the bilateral security agreement signed by the leaders of Ukraine and the Netherlands on March 1.
