A resident of Lozova, in southwestern Kharkiv Oblast, uncovered a high-explosive aerial bomb in his yard during construction work on 2 June, Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported.
Sappers identified the munition as a 100 kg Second World War aerial bomb, removed it under safety protocols, transported it to a dedicated demolition range, and destroyed it.
The find joins a steady run of legacy ordnance surfacing across Ukraine, including a shell unearthed by passers-by in Lviv this week. Lozova itself, a railway hub of about 54,000 people, has been hit repeatedly by current Russian strikes — including an October 2025 attack that cut power to 25,000 customers and a November 2025 strike that disrupted municipal heat and water — though SES officials drew no link between those attacks and the WWII bomb's appearance.
Civilians who encounter suspicious objects should not approach or handle them and should call 101, the service said.
