Russian strikes on Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region killed at least six people and injured more than a dozen others on 12 May, local officials said, as drones, artillery, and guided bombs hit residential areas and civilian infrastructure.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the strike on Kryvyi Rih as “cynical” and lacking any military purpose, saying it hit a residential building and killed two people. He said their nine-month-old granddaughter is in hospital with severe injuries, with doctors working to save her life.

He added that Russia continues to kill and injure civilians after a brief pause in attacks, and called for sustained pressure on Moscow and stronger Ukrainian air defenses to force it toward diplomacy and end the killings.

Kryvyi Rih came under direct drone attack, with a Shahed striking a residential building and triggering a fire, according to Kryvyi Rih Defense Council head Oleksandr Vilkul.

He said two people were killed – a 43-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman – and a nine-month-old girl was seriously injured after her leg was torn off in the strike and evacuated to hospital.

Vilkul added that emergency crews extinguished the fire and were continuing response operations at the site.

4 killed in Dubovykivka amid attacks across the oblast

Across the wider Dnipropetrovsk region, the regional military administration reported more than 50 attacks on four districts over the course of the day.

In the Synelnykove district, a guided aerial bomb strike on the Dubovykivka community killed four people and injured three men aged 37, 48, and 51, officials said.

Earlier strikes in the Nikopol district hit multiple communities including Nikopol, Marhanets, Pokrovske, Myrivka, and Chervonohryhorivka.

Fires broke out and damage was reported to a private enterprise, a school, a shop, residential buildings, outbuildings, and more than a dozen vehicles.

Three civilians – a 61-year-old woman and two men aged 81 and 55 – were injured and are receiving outpatient treatment.

In the Kamianske district, a strike in the Krynychky community damaged a fuel station and vehicles, injuring a 24-year-old man who is being treated at home.
