Russian drone strikes targeted an evacuation vehicle in Beryslav, Kherson Oblast, killing one man and injuring three others, the head of the Kherson Oblast Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, said on Friday.
Russian attacks have made Kherson Oblast extremely dangerous for civilians. Beryslav sits on the bank of the Dnipro River, directly across from territory held by Russian forces, who regularly launch strikes and drone attacks across the river. Residents face constant risk in the city.
The volunteers were transporting residents to safety when Russian drones struck their vehicle, destroying it. Due to the ongoing attacks, the group had been unable to leave the area since 4 February.
Prokudin said that only today, through the “colossal efforts” of Ukrainian forces, the volunteers and four residents - three of whom were wounded - were evacuated to a safer community and are now under medical supervision.

Beryslav lies downstream from the Nova Kakhovka dam, which was destroyed by Russian forces in 2023. The collapse caused widespread flooding, drained the reservoir, and damaged water systems, agriculture, and infrastructure across the region, creating a long-term humanitarian and environmental crisis.
The area remains vulnerable, as Russian forces continue to launch attacks across the Dnipro, putting civilians and rescuers at risk.
