Spain’s UROVESA supplies Ukraine with VAMTACs armored vehicles

Spain’s Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, announced the delivery of VAMTAC armored vehicles to the Ukrainian Armed Forces during her visit to the UROVESA manufacturing facility.

Spain’s UROVESA supplies Ukraine with VAMTACs armored vehicles

Madrid has supplied the Ukrainian military with VAMTAC armored vehicles, said Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles during her visit to the UROVESA factory where these vehicles are manufactured, according to the Spanish Defense Ministry.

Since its introduction in 1998, the VAMTAC has been used by Spain’s Armed Forces and other countries in various military operations. Militarnyi has reported that over 4,500 of these vehicles have been produced to date.

The vehicle weighs 5.8 tons and can carry up to 2.5 tons of payload. The VAMTAC is a four-wheel-drive multipurpose vehicle equipped with a Steyr engine producing 188 horsepower, allowing it to reach a maximum speed of 135 km/h.

Margarita Robles did not specify how many VAMTACs Ukraine would receive or the timing for their delivery, but it is known that the armed forces are familiar with this equipment and actively use it on the battlefield.

“Robles thanked the company for its ability to adapt production to specific needs at any time, as well as for its contribution to supporting Ukraine,” the Spanish Ministry of Defense reported.

The VAMTAC was built with similar specifications to the US Army’s High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle.
