Ukrainian defenders have pushed Russian occupiers out of the “Kanal” micro-district in the city of Chasiv Yar, Donetsk region, said Nazar Voloshyn, a spokesperson for the Khortytsia Operational-Strategic Grouping of Forces, as per UkrInform.
According to Voloshyn, on 26 June, Ukrainian defenders repelled four Russian attempts to break through their defenses in Klishchiivka and Chasiv Yar.
“Ukrainian defenders have indeed expelled Russian forces from the ‘Kanal’ microdistrict in Chasiv Yar, Donetsk region. There is currently no enemy army there,” said the spokesperson.
Still, the Russian military is not giving up attempts to dislodge Ukrainian troops from positions near the Ivanivske settlement. The occupying forces are also trying to advance towards Chasiv Yar.
“Ukrainian defenders are reliably holding the defense in this sector and are giving a worthy rebuff to the Russian aggressor,” Voloshyn said.
He added that since the Russians cannot take the city, they are destroying it with heavy “Sontsepek” flamethrower systems.
“It is a terrifying weapon that fires thermobaric rocket projectiles,” he explained.
Earlier, the General Staff reported that Ukrainian forces struck three Russian command posts, one air defense system, two ammunition depots, and 15 areas of personnel concentration over the last 24 hours.
The occupiers lost 1260 soldiers, three tanks, nine combat armored vehicles, and 42 artillery systems.
