In a video address to the leaders of the European Union and the US at a summit in Paris, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy outlined the critical task of depriving Russia of its advantages in the sky, politics, and financing aggression.
About twenty top officials from EU member states and the US gathered in Paris on 26 February at the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron to push for support for Ukraine.
“We have to prove that we can deprive Russia of its air supremacy, its financing of aggression, and its political power. This is a task for the year,” the President of Ukraine said.
He expressed gratitude to France for hosting the summit and to all nations supporting Ukraine during the two-year full-scale war. Zelenskyy highlighted the recent Russian attack on Kostiantynivka, emphasizing the need to counter Russia’s air supremacy and bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
“We in Ukraine really appreciate that we have such friends. Thank you, all the leaders and every state that has been helping us for two years of this terrible full-scale war. Together, we have already saved millions of lives. And together we must ensure that Putin cannot destroy our achievements and cannot expand his aggression to other nations,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Zelenskyy detailed the impact of Russian aerial bombings on Ukrainian cities and frontline positions, urging collaborative efforts to neutralize Russia’s deadly advantages. He stressed the importance of enhancing Ukraine’s air shield, increasing joint production of weapons, and intensifying sanctions against Russia. Additionally, Zelenskyy invited partners to contribute to the preparation of the first Global Peace Summit in Switzerland.
