The international Ukraine Recovery Conference 2023, dedicated to the reconstruction process in the country affected by the Russian war, has started in London.
This year, the event will focus on mobilizing support for economic and social stabilization from the consequences of Russia’s brutal invasion through emergency assistance for immediate needs.
The Prime Minister of the UK, Rishi Sunak, opened the Ukraine Recovery Conference, claiming that his country together with allies would maintain support for Ukraine’s defense and the counteroffensive.
“We will stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes as they continue and to win this war. And we’ll also stand with them as they win the peace and harness all of that ingenuity and defiance to build that the future they deserve,” he stressed.
According to Sunak, the UK would provide loan guarantees worth $3 billion over three years to Ukraine. In addition, he said that the UK was launching a new UK-Ukraine TechBridge to foster investment and talent along with support for green energy.
Ahead of the conference, on 20 June, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shyhal met with King Charles III.
“We expect that with the assistance and support of King Charles III, we will manage to attract the necessary resources for the restoration and development of Ukraine,” the prime minister said.
