Yussi Halla-aho equated Russia's aggression against Finland and Ukraine, expressed disappointment post-Soviet Russia didn't change, showed Finland's solidarity with Ukraine including most Finnish MPs calling the Holodomor a Soviet genocide of Ukrainians.
Finland has closed half of its border crossings with Russia for three months to prevent illegal migration, as hundreds of asylum seekers have arrived from Russia in the past week.
"Protecting critical infrastructure facilities and ensuring public safety during the autumn-winter period are currently our top priorities. We can rely on Finland's support in this area as well," Ukraine's Interior Minister Klymenko said.
"Assistance for rescue services makes up about 20 per cent of all the assistance Finland has sent Ukraine through the EU’s Civil Protection Mechanism," Finland's Interior Minister said.
The US will spearhead training for Ukrainian pilots on F-16 jets. Finland and other Ukrainian allies have bolstered military aid. Meanwhile, Russia suffered heavy losses in the Avdiyivka offensive and kept striking Ukrainian civilians.
On 23 August, National Flag Day, European leaders arrive in Ukraine. For security reasons, the Presidential Office does not announce visits by foreign leaders. So far, representatives of three countries have arrived in Kyiv.
