Russia struck at least six Ukrainian regions overnight 20 May with a combined wave of drones and ballistic weapons, killing two people in Dnipro, wounding children in three cities, and bringing down three floors of an apartment building in Konotop, regional officials and emergency services reported.

The strikes began around midnight in Dnipro, where ballistic munitions hit a grocery warehouse, and ended just after 02:30 in Odesa. In between, Russia hit homes, a museum, and critical infrastructure in Sumy, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Mykolaiv oblasts.

Three floors collapse in Konotop

A Shahed-type drone hit a five-story residential building in the Sumy Oblast city of Konotop overnight, causing the second through fourth floors to collapse, said mayor Artem Semenikhin. State Emergency Service rescuers worked at five separate locations across the city and pulled three people from the rubble. Eight people were wounded, Radio Svoboda reported. The body of an elder woman was found.

"Windows shattered at the hospital. Windows and doors broken across administrative buildings, homes, and apartments. Our museum is no more," Semenikhin wrote on Telegram.

Operations paused during the night because of the threat of repeat strikes, the State Emergency Service said.

Across Sumy Oblast over the past 24 hours, Russian forces struck 44 settlements, killing four civilians and wounding nine, the National Police told Ukrinform. A drone killed a 48-year-old woman when it hit her car in Buryn community; two men aged 52 and 58 died in Hlukhiv community, where eight more people aged 33 to 92 were wounded.

Russian Shahed drones struck the Kholodnohirskyi and Novobavarskyi districts of Kharkiv, leaving a 16-year-old girl with an acute stress reaction, said regional head Oleh Syniehubov. Both districts were struck the previous night as well, when drones damaged more than ten residential buildings.

In Odesa, drone strikes between 02:00 and 02:06 completely destroyed a one-story residential building, hit the 18th floor of an unfinished 24-story tower without detonation, and ignited a major fire at a storage facility. A critical infrastructure facility was also damaged, the State Emergency Service reported. 86 rescuers and 20 fire-rescue vehicles worked at multiple locations. No casualties were reported.

An MLRS strike on Ochakiv in Mykolaiv Oblast wounded two women, Suspilne Mykolaiv reported.

Pryluky struck the night before

The overnight wave came less than 24 hours after a Russian ballistic missile struck the center of Pryluky in Chernihiv Oblast on the evening of 19 May, killing four people and wounding 30 in a strike on an industrial facility next to a supermarket and shopping center.
