Ukrainian deputy defense minister in Poland: World’s security architecture is impossible without Ukraine

On 2 October, Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister, Oleksandr Balanutsa, emphasized that building a global security architecture is only possible with Ukraine’s involvement. He made this statement during a meeting at the Warsaw Security Forum, according to Ukraine’s Defense Ministry.

During the Warsaw Security Forum, most discussions focused on Ukraine, including its vision of victory in the war, the need for investments in Ukraine’s defense industry, and the steps partners must take to support the country.

Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren, Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson, French Minister for European Affairs Benjamin Haddad, and Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister for European Integration Oleksandr Balanutsa joined the ministerial panel dedicated to Ukraine’s support at the event.

“Ukraine continues to fight and is enhancing its capacity to resist Russian aggression. If the world wants peace, it must build a security architecture that can prevent future attempts at Russian aggression. It cannot be achieved without Ukraine, as our combat experience now exceeds that of NATO countries,” said Balanutsa.

Sweden’s Defense Minister highlighted that NATO, including Sweden, has much to learn from Ukraine’s combat experience, use of technology on the battlefield, and other aspects. He also agreed that Ukraine’s membership in the Alliance is essential for strengthening European security.

The event participants stressed that Ukraine is fighting for Europe’s security and significantly contributes to the region’s defense capabilities. Investments in Ukraine’s defense industry are investments in a secure future.

To conclude the discussion, Ukraine’s allies addressed the need to form a coalition to help protect the country’s airspace from Russia’s missiles and drones.
