The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that in some locations of the Kupiansk sector, Ukrainian units “as a result of intense enemy fire” regrouped “to more favorable positions.” This is stated in the General Staff’s report as of 23:00 on 15 May.
According to the report, Ukrainian forces repelled 20 attacks by Russian troops in this area, while fighting continued in the areas of Kyslivka – Ivanivka, Kotliarivka – Pishchane, Kuzemivka – Stelmakhivka, Kovalivka – Novoyehorivka.
Meanwhile, in Kharkiv Oblast’s north where the Russians launched a new offensive across the border, no positions were lost by the Ukrainian forces, according to the General Staff. The report says that over the day in the area, the Ukrainian troops have successfully repelled four Russian attacks in the directions of Pylna-Lyptsi, Lukianka-Slobozhanske, Pylna-Slobozhanske, and Murom-Starytsia. The battles were still ongoing in the directions of Hlyboke-Lyptsi, Lukianka-Slobozhanske, Pylna-Slobozhanske, Murom-Starytsia, and Pletenivka-Vovchansk.
“The Defense Forces continue to focus their main efforts on preventing the enemy from advancing into the depths of our country and disrupting its efforts to establish full control over Donetsk, Luhansk, and part of Kharkiv oblasts,” the report reads.
