Russian weapon Ukraine cannot intercept is now hitting civilian water supplies

Russian occupying forces struck the Pechenehy Dam in Kharkiv Oblast with six guided aerial bombs, which is a critically important water supply facility for the region. Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, has emphasized the strategic importance of this reservoir for Kharkiv and the region, UNIAN reports.

The Pechenehy Reservoir is one of two key sources of drinking and technical water for Kharkiv. Its destruction could have catastrophic consequences for the civilian population and the city's functioning.

Combined attack with unstoppable weapons

“Six guided aerial bombs were directed at the Pechenehy Dam in Chuhuiv district. This is the largest reservoir in our region. It is a critically important facility for Kharkiv and our entire territory,” Syniehubov emphasized.

According to the head of the regional administration, the Russians carried out a combined strike, also using drones of the “Molniya” and Shahed drone types.

At the same time, Ukraine does not yet have effective means to intercept guided aerial bombs, making such attacks especially dangerous.

Scale of object whose destruction could change life in region

The Pechenehy Reservoir covers over 86 square kilometers, stretches for 65 kilometers, and reaches a width of up to 3 kilometers.

Its destruction could have severe humanitarian consequences and destabilize the region.

War against civilian living conditions

Russia already attempted to destroy the Pechenehy Dam in December 2025, which indicates a systematic nature of attacks on critical infrastructure.

According to military experts, such strikes are aimed not only at restraining Ukrainian forces, but also at creating intolerable living conditions for civilians.

Former spokesperson of the General Staff, Vladyslav Selezniov, noted that Russia is deliberately trying to destroy logistical support of the Defense Forces by targeting infrastructure, including hydraulic facilities.

In a broader perspective, this fits into a strategy of pressure through humanitarian crises, economic destruction, and provoking mass migration.
