One of the European intelligence agencies has suggested Russia may attempt to attack Europe in the winter of 2024/25, according to Bild.
The sources told the German tabloid that the intelligence believes Russia might invade one of the European countries at a time when the US finds itself “leaderless,” and while aid from the US to European states may be delayed.
Specifically, it refers to the period when the current US president leaves his post in early November 2024 and before the newly elected president is inaugurated in January 2025.
According to an anonymous intelligence officer, Russian authorities hope that former US President Donald Trump will return to the White House, as under his leadership, “anything can happen.”
Earlier, Germany’s Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said Europe must rearm as new threats from Russia loom.
“We Europeans must engage more to ensure on our own continent,” the minister stated.
Europe has about 5-8 years to catch up, in terms of armed forces, industry, and society, Pistorius added.
