On 14 December, Germany announced a new military aid package for Ukraine. The assistance includes a Patriot air defense system, capable of intercepting ballistic and cruise missiles, and additional rounds of 155mm ammunition.
The fresh aid package also includes nine Bandvagn 206 tracked all-terrain vehicles, three mobile, remote-controlled and protected mine clearing systems, 14 drone detection systems, eight Mercedes-Benz Zetros trucks, and four truck tractor trains 8×8 HX81, a semi-trailer, and over 47,000 rounds of 40mm ammunition.
Recently, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said his country should be ready to help Ukraine even more if other countries “weaken.”
Scholz says Germany should support Ukraine even more if other countries’ aid dithers
The official said he did not expect the war in Ukraine to end quickly, therefore, Germany’s aid for the country should be provided on a long-term basis.
Germany would even have to be prepared to do even more “if others weaken,” said the chancellor, apparently alluding to the unclear political situation in the US ahead of next year’s presidential elections.
