Terrorists in Donbas have not agreed to the peace plan of the Ukrainian authorities, therefore ATO forces are considering the option to switch to the ATO (Anti-Terrorist Operation) plan B, said President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko at a meeting with the non-faction deputies, reports Obozrevatel, citing its own source.
The chief of state noted that the truce and negotiations were not successful. Therefore, Ukrainian authorities will impose martial law in the Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts and resume the active ATO in order to restore order in the area that is currently contolled by Russia-supported terrorists.
According to Poroshenko, it will be “a new type of war”: the ATO manpower will not conduct massive military operations; however, “the terrorists will suffer massive losses.”
President will officially announce the new ATO phase tonight after a RNBO (National Security and Defense Council) meeting, where the necessary decisions will be made.
In addition, at a meeting with the MPs Poroshenko said that he is quite displeased with the work of Cabinet of Ministers, and that is why the government will be faced with “serious changes.”
He also indicated that early parliamentary elections will be held and amendments to the Constitution will be debated as planned in the agenda of Ukraine’s new Governement.
Comment: There are contradicting reports on this.
It will be updated soon after official the address of President Petro Poroshenko to the nation. Declarations were made before conversation of Poroshenko with Vladimir Putin, Angela Merkel and François Hollannde. The RNBO meeting contunues.
