Ukraine's military intelligence destroyed a Russian patrol boat built from a design Russia stole from Ukraine. Overnight from 29 to 30 July 2026, drone operators of Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) struck three high-value targets of the Russian occupation army in the south, the agency reported.

The three strikes cost Russia more than $20 million in one night. HUR hit a Pantsir-S1 air-defense system in occupied Kherson Oblast, a Project 1100M "Sargan" patrol boat in Kerch, and a "Forpost" drone control station in Yevpatoria in occupied Crimea.

Three targets, over $20 million

The losses were expensive. The Pantsir-S1 is worth about $15 million, and the Sargan boat is worth about $6 million, according to HUR. The three targets share a purpose: they are the sensors, shooters, and patrol assets that let Russia hold occupied Crimea and the coast, a Pantsir to defend against air attack, a Forpost station to fly the drones that watch the sea, and the Sargan to patrol the waters around Kerch.

The boat is a stolen Ukrainian design

The Sargan carries a particular irony. It is a Ukrainian design: when Russia seized Crimea in 2014, it also took the "More" shipyard in Feodosia, where builders had begun a boat developed by Ukrainian naval engineers, originally ordered to guard Ukraine's president, ArmyInform reported.

Russia inherited the project and the yard, and has used the fast boats, capable of 44 knots, to guard the Kerch Bridge. Ukraine has now destroyed one Russia-built on a Ukrainian blueprint at a stolen Ukrainian shipyard.

The strikes chip at Russia's hold on Crimea

Destroying all three in one night degrades Russia's ability to see, defend, and patrol its most sensitive occupied ground. It is part of a sustained HUR and Defense Forces effort to raise the cost of holding Crimea by picking off the expensive, hard-to-replace systems Russia relies on to keep the peninsula and its fleet secure.
