Finland will deliver its 31st defense aid package to Ukraine, valued at around €98 million ($114m USD), the Finnish Ministry of Defense announced on 16 January.
Finnish President Sauli Niinistö approved the package based on a government proposal. In total, Finland has provided Ukraine with defense equipment worth approximately €3.1 billion ($3.6bn) since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Package fast-tracked to meet urgent needs
Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen said the latest package was assembled on an accelerated schedule to meet Ukraine’s most urgent needs. He added that Finland’s domestic defense industry continues to support Ukraine this year according to planned procurement programs.
“Finland will continue supporting Ukraine with defense materials because it is the most effective way to promote a just peace,” Häkkänen said.
For operational and security reasons, the ministry did not disclose further details about the package’s contents, delivery method, or timing. The aid is designed to match both Ukraine’s requirements and the Finnish Defense Forces’ resource capacities.
