The White House has confirmed that US President Donald Trump will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on 28 December in Florida, according to the official website of the administration.
The bilateral meeting is scheduled for 3:00 pm local time (11:00 pm Kyiv time) in Palm Beach, the statement reads. Trump's private Mar-a-Lago residence is located near the resort, where he traveled for the weekend, according to his schedule.
Zelenskyy said earlier that the Florida meeting with Trump will address a wide range of issues related to the possibility of concluding a peace agreement in the Russia-Ukraine war. The Ukrainian president shared this information with journalists on 26 December.
On the morning of 26 December, Zelenskyy announced the agreement to meet with Trump "in the near future." This followed his phone conversation with members of the US president's team, Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Earlier this week, the Ukrainian president described a 20-point plan created during discussions between Kyiv and Washington as "a basic document on ending the war." According to him, the plan provides for Ukraine to receive strong security guarantees, with the Armed Forces of Ukraine numbering 800,000 personnel in peacetime.
Russian government officials have not officially commented on the plan.
Russian authorities will demand "key changes" to the 20-point peace plan developed through Ukraine-US discussions, Bloomberg reported, citing a source close to the Kremlin.
