Countries that ignored Ukraine before are now competing for meetings — Ukrainian FM after Antalya forum

Ukraine is strengthening its role on the global stage and attracting a new level of international interest, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said following the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum. The number of meeting requests during the forum was record-breaking and significantly higher than at previous similar events, UkrInform reports.

The forum took place in Türkiye from 17 April to 19. On its sidelines, Sybiha held a series of bilateral meetings with counterparts from Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

According to the minister, there is now a noticeable competition for Ukraine’s attention, reflecting the country’s evolving international position.

Ukraine’s diplomacy draws growing international attention

“We have become much more of a subject in international relations. This time, I had a very large number of meeting requests and proposals for cooperation from partners who previously did not see Ukraine on their radar at all,” Sybiha said.

He added that this reflects recognition of Ukraine’s capabilities and the results of its proactive foreign policy.

Ukraine expands its global presence as a security partner

Sybiha also said he received a record number of meeting requests at this year’s forum.

“I don’t remember having such a number of requests during multilateral platforms,” he noted.

He described it as “a competition for attention to Ukraine and for the opportunities that cooperation with Ukraine opens.”

“We are becoming more attractive, offering mutually beneficial cooperation. And this cooperation strengthens Ukraine,” he emphasized.

Sybiha added that Ukraine plans to further expand its presence across different regions and position itself as a contributor to international security.
