A Russian drone attack on the central Ukrainian city of Dnipro killed one person and injured at least 28 on Monday, according to regional authorities. The strike set fire to an office building and cars, while damaging an apartment block, a dormitory, and a cultural institution.

The attack highlights Moscow’s ongoing campaign against Ukrainian cities away from the frontlines, as Kyiv presses Western partners for tighter sanctions and improved air defense to counter drones and missiles.

Twelve of the wounded, including a 10-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl, were hospitalized, while others received treatment at the scene. Emergency services worked throughout the day clearing the destruction.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the daylight strike on civilian infrastructure as “brazen” and called for stronger international sanctions against Russia. He also urged European allies to strengthen collective air defenses against drone and missile attacks.

Russian forces also shelled communities in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast later in the day, though no casualties were reported.
