On 6 November, Russian forces made further advances in eastern Ukraine, according to a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW). The ongoing Russian offensive reportedly led to gains near Kupiansk (Kharkiv Oblast), Svatove (Luhansk Oblast), Pokrovsk, and Vuhledar (Donetsk Oblast).

Russia continues its efforts to capture remaining areas of Donetsk Oblast, focusing on Pokrovsk. As Russia widely utilizes the “meat assault” tactics of frontal attacks, it keeps making incremental gains despite heavy losses, with Zelenskyy reporting Russian forces outnumbering Ukrainians 8:1 in some areas, forcing retreats.

The ISW report noted that Russian forces advanced along the Kupiansk-Svatove-Kreminna line, securing positions southeast of Kupiansk in Kharkiv Oblast and west of Luhansk Oblast’s Svatove. Geolocated footage published on 6 November showed Russian forces moving through fields near Kolisnykivka, southeast of Kupiansk, and advancing into northeastern Pershotravneve, west of Svatove.

In Donetsk Oblast, Russians reportedly progressed in the Pokrovsk area, with footage showing advancements southeast of Novooleksiivka, near Pokrovsk. According to ISW, Russian personnel from the 114th Motorized Rifle Brigade raised the Russian flag over a building in Stepanivka, north of Kurakhove, marking the capture of the settlement. The ISW report also indicated that Russian forces conducted two platoon-sized mechanized assaults, leading to further advances northeast of Vuhledar, capturing positions within Antonivka and east of Bohoyavlenka.

The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed additional gains in Vuhledar, asserting that Russian forces seized control of both Yasna Polyana, northwest of Vuhledar, and Antonivka, northeast of the city. Meanwhile, ISW reports confirm that Russian forces continued offensive operations across all other sectors on 6 November, although no additional advances were documented.

Additionally, the Ukrainian OSINT project Deep State, which maintains an interactive map of the Russo-Ukrainian war, also reported on 7 November that over the past day, the Russian forces were able to advance near Novooleksiyivka, Kreminna Balka, Maksymivka, Bohoyavlenka and Toretsk in Donetsk Oblast.
