A weapons arsenal in Russia’s Bryansk Oblast may have been attacked on the night of 9 October, according to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
Overnight into 9 October, Russian authorities claimed the drone attack in Krasnodar Krai, Bryansk, and Rostov oblasts.
According to Kovalenko, the 67th arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense, closest to the front line, was hit near Karachev in Bryansk Oblast.
The arsenal is located 114 km from the Ukrainian border.
Kovalenko said that the warehouse contained “ammunition, including from North Korea, as well as KABs [guided air bombs].”
This incident follows attacks by Ukrainian forces on two major arsenals with missiles and shells in Russia’s Tver Oblast, as well as an important ammunition depot in Krasnodar Krai in September.
Explosions were reported in Bryansk Oblast on the night of 9 October. Social media accounts mentioned a fire with detonations.
Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began, combat drones have regularly entered Russian regions, resulting in destruction and casualties.
The Russian Ministry of Defense maintains that these attacks originate from Ukraine, though Kyiv typically does not comment on such reports.
