Russian ballistic missile strike hits near Odesa, killing 4 including child

The Russian army struck near Odesa, reportedly using two Iskander-M ballistic missiles, resulting in 4 deaths, including a 10-year-old girl, announced the head of the Odesa regional military administration, Oleh Kiper.

The Iskander-M is a sea-based missile, suggesting Russia attacked Odesa Oblast from the Black Sea.

“We know about 14 injured people. Among them, 4 people are currently in serious condition, 5 are in moderate condition, and another 5 have minor injuries. Among the victims is also a 4-year-old girl, who has shrapnel wounds to her back and concussion,” he wrote on Telegram.

The Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine stated the killed and injured were victims of a “insidious double Russian strike” at the end of the workday, as people were heading home.

“The damaged gas station is still on fire, shops, warehouses, administrative buildings and private houses are damaged,” the message of the Southern Defense Forces on Telegram states.

The Odesa authorities claim the strike targeted “transport infrastructure,” while Russian Telegram channels say a bridge in the port city of Chornomorsk near Odesa was hit.
