On 8 April 2024, the Russian Air Force launched a series of airstrikes targeting civilian infrastructure in the Sumy and Zaporizhzhia regions of Ukraine, resulting in civilian casualties and property damage.
According to the Sumy Oblast Prosecutor’s Office, at approximately 3:15 PM, Russian forces conducted an airstrike on a civilian infrastructure object in the city of Sumy, injuring three civilians. Just 15 minutes later, at 3:30 PM, the enemy launched three aerial bomb attacks on the central part of Bilopillia in the Sumy district. The attack claimed the life of one woman and injured two others while also damaging civilian infrastructure and vehicles.
Meanwhile, in Zaporizhzhia, the Prosecutor General’s Office has initiated a pre-trial investigation into the violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder. At around 12:30 PM on 8 April 2024, Russian armed forces launched a missile strike on a local enterprise. The attack killed three civilians and injured several others. The exact number of casualties is being clarified.
Prosecutors, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, are documenting the consequences of the airstrikes.
