On 17 March, southern Ukraine’s city of Mykolaiv experienced two significant explosions in the afternoon, resulting in recorded hits. Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych reported substantial damage to many detached homes, including windows and roofs. The blasts also shattered windows in apartments and damaged cars.

the Russian military launched a missile strike on Mykolaiv, employing two missiles, possibly of the Iskander-M type, from the temporarily occupied Crimea, according to the Ukraine South Defense Forces.

This tactic mirrors a previous assault on Odesa, where an initial missile strike was followed by a second on the same target shortly after, according to the Forces, emphasizing the ongoing terrorization of the south. The attack targeted an infrastructure facility in Mykolaiv during the afternoon, resulting in damage to residential buildings and civilian vehicles in the vicinity.

“As of 20:00, one person was killed (a man born in 1974 died in the hospital), and eight people were injured, including a child (a girl born in 2013),” the Mykolaiv Oblast Military Administration Head Vitalii Kim reported on Telegram.
