Russia carried out drone strikes on civilian rail infrastructure in Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk Oblasts, causing fires and structural damage, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration Oleksii Kuleba said.
Russia has stepped up attacks on Ukraine’s civilian railway infrastructure in recent months, with strikes across the country causing damage to depots and killing civilian passengers traveling by rail.
In Odesa Oblast, the attack damaged buildings at a rail depot, including a tank car that caught fire. Emergency services quickly contained the blaze. Kuleba said all rail staff were in shelters at the time and none were injured.
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast has faced repeated strikes on its rail infrastructure. Kuleba reported that these attacks caused some damage but did not disrupt train traffic or result in casualties.
“These are not military targets,” Kuleba said. “Russia is systematically hitting our logistics to try to paralyze the region’s economy. Rail workers, rescuers, and energy crews continue to restore operations.”
