General Staff: Ukrainian forces repel eight Russian attacks on Dnipro’s east bank

Intense battles continue across the eastern and southern fronts, with a total of 69 skirmishes occurring in just the past day, Ukraine’s General Staff reported in its evening frontline update on 19 December.

Despite eight attempted storming actions by Russian forces aimed at dislodging Ukrainian units from the eastern bank of the Dnipro River, Ukrainian defenders held their positions and forced the Russian military to retreat with losses, the report reads.

The report highlighted that Ukrainian forces continue to hold positions on the left bank of the Dnipro in the Kherson Oblast, continuing to strike occupying troops.

Over the day, the Ukrainian military conducted six strikes on Russia’s personnel, weaponry, and military equipment concentrations. Additionally, Ukrainian missile units hit two such areas, including a command post, three artillery units, and four ammunition depots.

Over the past day, Russian forces launched one missile and ten aerial strikes, along with 40 multiple-launch rocket system (MLRS) attacks.

On the Kupiansk front in the Kharkiv Oblast, Ukrainian defenders repelled all attacks near Synkivka, where the Russian troops unsuccessfully attempted to breach their defenses with air support.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian forces repelled four Russian attacks around Serebriansky forestry in Luhansk Oblast and east of Terny in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Bakhmut front, Ukrainian forces successfully countered ten Russian attacks near Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk Oblast.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defense forces repelled 22 attacks east of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, and Avdiivka, along with seven more attacks in the areas of Pervomaisky and Nevelsky in the Donetsk Oblast.

Ukrainian forces continued to hold back the Russian troops in the areas of Mariinka, Krasnohorivka, and Novomykhailivka of the Donetsk Oblast, where the Russian military carried out 13 attacks.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Ukrainian troops repelled nine attacks west of Novopokrovka and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast, where the Russian forces, supported by aviation, tried to dislodge Ukrainian units from their positions.
