General Staff: Russia fumbles dual aerial offensives; shoots down its own jet

Russian military forces made unsuccessful attempts to breach the defense of Ukrainian troops on the Kupiansk and Avdiivka fronts, as reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in its daily evening summary.

Over the last 24 hours, 54 engagements occurred between Ukrainian defenders and invading Russian forces along the frontline. Russians launched two missiles and 25 aerial strikes, conducting 25 bombardments with multiple rocket launchers on Ukrainian troops’ positions and dozens of populated areas. This resulted in casualties and injuries among the civilian population, along with damages to private residences and other civilian infrastructure.

Additionally, Russian anti-aircraft gunners mistakenly downed their own SU-25 attack aircraft in Eastern Ukraine.

Ukrainian aviation targeted the concentration area of Russian personnel, weaponry, military equipment, and two anti-aircraft missile complexes. The air defense system also neutralized 7 “Shahed-136/131” combat drones.

Ukrainian rocket forces targeted four concentration areas of Russian personnel, weaponry, military equipment, an artillery facility, and an ammunition depot.

Ukrainian forces continued to hold positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson Oblast, inflicting fire damage against Russian troops.

In the Kupiansk sector, which covers Kharkiv and Luhansk oblasts in eastern Ukraine, Russian forces, supported by aviation, made unsuccessful attempts to breach the defense of Ukrainian troops. Ukrainian forces successfully repelled six attacks near Petropavlivka in Kharkiv Oblast.

In the Lyman sector (Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts), Ukrainian troops successfully repelled 8 Russian attacks near Makiivka in Luhansk Oblast and Terny in Donetsk Oblast. The Russian Air Force conducted airstrikes near Zvanivka in Donetsk Oblast.

In the Bakhmut sector (Donetsk Oblast), Ukrainian forces thwarted 5 Russian attacks near Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in Donetsk Oblast.

In the Avdiivka sector (Donetsk Oblast), Russian attempts, supported by aviation, to breach Ukrainian defenses were unsuccessful. Ukrainian forces repelled 15 Russian attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, and Avdiivka and ten near Tonenke, Nevelske, and Pervomaiske in Donetsk Oblast. Also, the Russians conducted an aerial strike near Novobakhmutivka in Donetsk Oblast.

In the Mariinka sector (Donetsk Oblast), Ukrainian troops continue to hold off Russians in the areas of Novomykhailivka in Donetsk Oblast, with Russians conducting four attacks supported by aviation.

In the Shakhtarsk sector, which spans parts of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia Oblasts, Russian forces did not advance.

In the Zaporizhzhia sector, Ukrainians successfully repelled three Russian attacks near Verbove and Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

In the Kherson sector (southern Ukraine), the Russian Air Force conducted airstrikes near Krynky and Olgivka in Kherson Oblast.
