Australia will dispatch a new batch of Bushmaster armored vehicles to Ukraine, Australian Ambassador to Ukraine, Bruce Edwards, announced on X (formerly Twitter) on 7 December.
“Proud to see the role of Bushmasters recognized among key military assistance provided to Ukraine. And more are on their way,” Edwards wrote.
However, the Australian ambassador did not specify the number of vehicles sent.
In response, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense expressed gratitude to their Australian counterparts, emphasizing the “critical role” played by the previously supplied Bushmasters in the successful counteroffensive in the Kharkiv Oblast in September 2022.
“Despite the significant distance between our countries, we are bonded by shared democratic values. We are particularly grateful for the Bushmaster MRAPs that were provided to Ukraine’s Army,” the statement read.
The Bushmaster is renowned for its resilience to mine explosions, saving the lives of Ukrainian soldiers. Its maneuverability and off-road capabilities are also vital for combat missions.
In May this year, Australia ordered 78 Bushmaster armored vehicles to replenish its stocks.
