On 24 November, Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, had a phone call with the newly elected President of Argentina, Javier Milei.
President Zelenskyy congratulated President-elect Javier Milei on his landslide victory in the elections and thanked him for his “unwavering support for Ukraine since the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.”
“I am grateful to you for not trying to balance between good and evil and for immediately declaring your resolute support for Ukraine. Ukrainians saw it all. And we are very grateful to you for that,” Zelenskyy told Milei.
Ukraine’s President thanked Argentina for its humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and discussed possible cooperation between Ukraine and Argentina in investigating Russian war crimes in Ukraine and post-war reconstruction.
President Zelenskyy invited Javier Milei to send a representative of Argentina to the next Peace Formula meeting of national security and political advisors.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized Ukraine’s interest in further developing relations with Argentina and the South American region. Zelenskyy invited Milei to join the Ukraine – Latin America Summit preparations. Ukraine’s President also invited Javier Milei to visit Ukraine.
The Libertarian deputy in parliament, Javier Milei, won the presidential elections in the second round, defeating his runoff opponent, Sergio Massa. The inauguration of the newly elected President of Argentina is scheduled for 10 December 2023. Javier Milei has condemned Russian aggression against Ukraine numerous times.
