Canada contributes to Holodomor Museum’s completion in Ukraine

Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed defense and financial support, the situation on the battlefield, and ongoing defense cooperation with Kyiv during the recent phone call. Both officials have also coordinated the next steps in the way of creation an international coalition to help Ukraine return children from Russia which was proposed at the meeting of advisors in Malta by the Canadian delegation. In addition, Zelenskyy thanked Canada for its decision to contribute to the completion of the National Museum of the Holodomor Genocide, the President's Office reports. The Museum was opened in Kyiv in August 2009 to commemorate at least four million people who starved to death in Ukraine during the artificial man-made famine unleashed in 1932-33 by communist dictator Joseph Stalin. At the height of the Holodomor, 28,000 people were dying per day.

This number does not include the ethnic Ukrainians outside the Ukrainians SSR who died, the half million people deported from Ukraine during collectivization, or the thousands of religious, cultural, and political leaders who were destroyed. The USSR attempted to cover up the Holodomor, and Russia continues to deny or diminish it to the very day.
