Some 96 illegally privatized public properties will be returned to the Dnipropetrovsk community in less than two weeks, announced the newly appointed Dnipropetrovsk Deputy Governor Boris Filatov, reports Expreso TV, March 24.
Filatov did not name those who were behind the shady schemes, but he emphasized that as a result of numerous transactions, 96 public city properties were finally purchased by honest buyers.
“As people who have law degrees and some experience, we know all about the legal process — it’s long and inefficient. We were able to hold rather friendly negotiations with the people responsible for misappropriating this property. These individuals assured us that they will voluntarily return the properties to public ownership this week,” Filatov said.
Filatov confirmed that property freezes are being removed and fruitful negotiations are taking place. The process is to be completed in a week, or at most two weeks. “People made mistakes. We pointed out their errors and they agreed to engage in a dialogue,” he said.
The press service of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Administration issued a certificate stating that in September 2013, information was made public on the unauthorized sales of 96 real estate properties belonging to the Dnipropetrovsk community and listed on the balance sheet of the municipal company “Specialized renovation and construction unit.” On the list were facilities designated for social and cultural uses and those relating to health care and education.
On September 19, 2013, a meeting of the Economic Court of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast took place regarding the matter of No 38/5005/11447/2012 with the participation of the municipal company “Specialized renovation and construction unit” whose property had previously been transferred to private individuals under a bankruptcy agreement.
