Euromaidan Press welcomes opinions for publication in our Opinion category. Anybody with expertise and unique insights on Ukraine or the region can submit an opinion piece to us.
Here are a few things to consider before you start writing.
Guidelines
Your piece should be preferably 1000 words or less. Please use clear, concise writing, and refer to reliable, credible sources, including hyperlinks to them.
Our motto is: News and views from Ukraine that matter to the world. In your op-ed, please explain why your subject matters for the global picture and how it connects to larger trends.
Do structure your text logically. Ensure that your piece has a clear subject and that all of your text pertains to the subject.
Please consider that our readers are from around the world. Imagine that you are talking with your friend from a faraway country. Say, Amanda from Texas. Or Jose from Guatemala. Or Adanna from Nigeria. Will they understand what you are referring to? If not, explain. If it’s too difficult to explain, perhaps there is another way to say what you meant, without the need to delve into lengthy elaborations.
We welcome submissions from government officials, but please refrain from writing about “our interests” “abroad.”
Include a small photo of yourself as the author and 1-3 sentences about yourself. If you have special expertise that explains why your opinion on the subject should be trusted, make sure it is clear from your author’s description.
If you have open-source photos or other images that you have permission to use, that is great! Just include them in the Google Doc along with captions explaining what the photo is about. Please credit the source.
We usually do not pay for opinion pieces. However, we can include a link to your website, or other information about your initiative you would like to share.
Due to the high volume of submissions, please give us a week to get back to you. Euromaidan Press reserves the right to reject submissions without providing explanations.
We look forward to your pieces!
