European Court of Human Rights (Strasbourg) is considering over 2 000 individual appeals concerning events in Crimea and military actions in the Eastern Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.
Since the beginning of 2016 the Court accepted up to 450 appeals from residents of the Eastern Ukraine. The appeals are against both Ukraine and Russia. No decision regarding their eligibility hasn’t been taken by the Court yet.
“Since the beginning of the year the Court received up to 450 appeals. Some of them were against Ukraine, some against Ukraine and Russia. As of now, there hasn’t been any decision issued regarding eligibility,” the representative of the court in Strasbourg Nina Salomon said during the press conference in Kyiv.
Salomon also elaborated on the general statistics about the received appeals connected to the annexation of Crimea by Russia and its aggression and occupation in the Eastern Ukraine.
“In general, over 2 000 of individual appeals regarding to the events in Crimea and military actions in the Eastern Ukraine are currently being considered by the Court. They were submitted against Ukraine and Russia or against one of these countries,” the ECHR representative informed.
