The Ukrainian Special Operations Forces conducted a series of Middle Strike operations on the night of 18 March against Russian targets in temporarily occupied Donetsk Oblast. Their long-range drones struck a base of the classified Russian UAV center “Rubicon”, as well as a command element controlling this unit.
The center’s analytical department collects data on UAV usage in the conflict zone, analyzes surveillance footage from the front line, and provides recommendations for more effective UAV deployment.
Rubicon has approximately 5,000 personnel and significant financial resources. Its objectives include disrupting Ukrainian logistics, neutralizing UAV command teams, and training other Russian units.
The group demonstrates “strong political will and significant involvement” of Russian intelligence services in directly organizing this structure.
The unit is capable of executing complex, high-risk, and systematic strikes deep into Ukrainian formations.
Additionally, a strike was conducted against a coordination center supporting enemy UAV operations.
Logistics under fire: enemy depots, equipment, ammo
Separate strikes targeted facilities in the settlement of Vilne in the occupied territory.
There, Special Operations Forces destroyed ammunition depots, military equipment, and storage and distribution points for munitions.
These strikes aim to disrupt enemy logistics and reduce their ability to sustain combat operations at the front.
Next-level asymmetric warfare: underground resistance
The operation’s success was aided by underground members of the Resistance Movement, who helped gather intelligence and adjust strikes.
Special Operations units systematically use Middle Strike tactics to target high-value enemy positions in the rear.
“Ukraine continues asymmetric actions to strategically weaken the enemy in its war against Ukraine,” military officials emphasized.
