Ukrainian forces are advancing in the Southern operational zone. According to Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Kyiv troops are maintaining their designated positions while gradually advancing, destroying Russian forces, and engaging in active battles to liberate settlements.

The southern front of Ukraine comprises five regions. Among them are Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts, as well as Crimea.

The fiercest fighting is currently taking place in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, where Russian forces are approaching closer to the regional center. This direction is one of the decisive fronts, where Ukrainian troops are neutralizing Russian troops in Stepnohirsk, with an average survival time for an occupier of approximately 12 minutes.

General on the front line: directives for a rapid advance

General Syrskyi has personally visited the Southern operational zone forces, meeting with the leadership of the offensive grouping and brigade, regiment, and battalion commanders.

He has received reports on task execution, the current situation, and unit operations in assigned sectors, provided directives to address pressing issues, and discussed options for further action.

Information discipline and strategic focus: priorities for saving lives

The Ukrainian commander-in-chief has emphasized that maintaining operational security is critical to the operation's success.

“Our priorities are liberating Ukrainian territory from occupiers and preserving the lives of our soldiers,” General Syrskyi states, highlighting the strategic importance of discipline and coordination on the front.

Recently, Russia has been actively using rhetoric about capturing Odesa, calling it in propaganda “a Russian city.” For the Kremlin, control over Odesa would mean full control over the Black Sea, port infrastructure, and key logistics.

Odesa is a strategic logistics hub: a significant flow of cargo passes through the city, including civilian and dual-use cargo. From this cargo, Russia could later produce drones while bypassing sanctions.

Currently, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are actively strengthening the region’s defenses against likely Russian military provocations. Measures to protect the city of Odesa and Odesa Oblast are ongoing.
