Russian forces have once again struck DTEK’s thermal power stations and electricity infrastructure overnight on 12 February, Ukraine’s largest energy company said.
The latest strikes are part of a broader pattern of intensified Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure this winter. Power plants and substations across the country have repeatedly been targeted in recent months, putting critical services under sustained pressure and complicating efforts to maintain electricity supply amid freezing temperatures.
11th mass attack since October, over 220 since invasion
DTEK reported that the latest strike caused significant damage to equipment at one of its thermal power plants.
The company said this marks the 11th mass attack on its thermal stations since October 2025 and reported over 220 attacks on its facilities since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Odesa substation suffers significant damage
Earlier on the same day, DTEK said a large substation in Odesa Oblast was damaged in another strike. The company described the destruction as significant and said repairs would take considerable time to restore the equipment.
DTEK said crews were working on-site to clear debris and repair the damage, prioritizing the restoration of electricity to critical infrastructure.
